Hope for Dragons – Adoption Terms & Conditions
At Hope for Dragons, our goal is to match each bearded dragon with a loving, lifelong home. These terms are here to make sure our dragons receive the best possible care and to protect them for their entire lives. Please read them carefully before completing your adoption application.
1. Return-to-Rescue Requirement
If at any time you are unable or unwilling to care for your adopted bearded dragon, you must return the dragon to Hope for Dragons.
The dragon may not be sold, given away, or transferred to another person or organization without prior written approval from Hope for Dragons.
2. Care Standards
You agree to provide proper housing, heating, UVB lighting, and nutrition as recommended by Hope for Dragons.
You agree to provide a minimum enclosure size of 40 gallons (or larger) unless otherwise specified by the rescue.
You agree to provide a varied diet including live insects and fresh greens.
3. Veterinary Care
You agree to provide timely veterinary care from a reptile-knowledgeable veterinarian when needed.
Routine checkups are encouraged to monitor the dragon’s health.
4. No Breeding
All adoptions are for companion purposes only. Breeding of adopted dragons is strictly prohibited.
5. Adoption Fees
Adoption fees are non-refundable and help cover the costs of care, housing, and veterinary expenses for current and future rescues.
6. Assumption of Risk & Liability Release
While Hope for Dragons makes every effort to ensure the health of our animals, we cannot guarantee the future health, behavior, or lifespan of any adopted bearded dragon.
You assume full responsibility for the dragon upon adoption.
Hope for Dragons shall not be held liable for any injury, illness, property damage, or expenses related to the adopted animal after the adoption is complete.
7. Follow-Up
Hope for Dragons reserves the right to request follow-up updates (including photos) to ensure the well-being of the adopted dragon.
By submitting an adoption application and signing the adoption contract, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms.
